Draw clean, transition and animal zones. Place parking, deliveries, quarantine, mortality storage and visitor controls so traffic does not cross unnecessarily.

- Source traceable stock and quarantine according to a locally designed plan.
- Use dedicated clothing, footwear and tools by production zone.
- Control rodents, insects, wild birds and standing water.
- Clean first, then disinfect with the correct product, concentration, contact time and surface conditions.
- Keep feed and water protected; document visitors and animal movements.
Detect clusters early
Record appetite, production, mortality and signs daily. Several animals affected, unusual deaths or a suspected reportable disease require immediate veterinary and authority contact.
Antibiotics are not biosecurity
Routine inappropriate antimicrobial use can select resistance. Prevention, vaccination where appropriate, husbandry and veterinarian-led treatment are the safer system.
